CBT is a type of psychotherapy (or "talk therapy") that is based on the theory that psychological symptoms are related to the interaction of thoughts, behaviours, and emotions. In CBT the therapist and client will work on identifying and directly changing thoughts and behaviours that may be maintaining symptoms.
The therapist will often assign homework for the client to complete outside of sessions in order to challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that are causing distress.
CBT is a very structured and logical therapy which uses rational thinking to challenge negative thought patterns. It is a more direct form of therapy and is usually of shorter duration than other talking therapies.
I have consultation rooms in Wymondham and Hethersett, Norwich, (maps here) and can also offer CBT by phone/internet, in which case distance is not a problem. For latest rates, please click here. To make a booking, please click here.
